Douglas Cone
Justice of the Peace
Precinct 2
Cone, a graduate of Brenham High School and Texas A&M University, will be a candidate in the 2018 Republican primary.

"Serving as JP has enabled me to enrich my education, broaden my knowledge and deepen my appreciation for our great county," he said.

Cone cited his experience in the position.

"My office works to serve justice with a firm but fair hand. The justice of the peace is a position of great complexity," he said. "There is much more to the office than traffic tickets and holding court. It is a job where an extensive knowledge of the law is a requirement, a position where one must be willing to make tough decisions to get the job done. As a JP, hands on experience is where it counts."

Cone said he is a father, a family man and a local businessman. He has more than 500 hours of judicial education through the Texas Justice Court Training Center.

Cone is a Certified Texas Master Peace Officer and a mentor through the Commission on Judicial Conduct.

He has also volunteered his time in support of the Washington County Fair, Knights of Columbus and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

Cone was appointed and served two terms as District 7 director for the Justice of the Peace and Constables Association of Texas. He is also a member of the Central Texas Justice of the Peace and Constables Association.
